That’s what a local group of people believe, and it was getting the word out Thursday about unidentified flying objects.
The group is called the Mutual UFO Network.
Thursday night, one of the MUFON leaders held a meeting at Waldo branch of the Kansas City Public Library.
He group investigates claims of people who see UFOs. One of the latest sightings came from the University of Missouri-Kansas City campus last week. She said about 20 people saw strange lights hovering at treetop level.
“There’s so many people seeing things out there,” said Margie Kay with Kansas City MUFON.
Kay said she believes she’s seen nine or 10 UFOs. She said she doesn’t appreciate pranksters who post fake UFO sightings online.
“What we’re out to do is to disprove all the fakes and the hoaxes first, and get rid of those. And then what you have left is maybe 5 or 10 percent that, what we term as real,” Kay told KMBC’s Martin Augustine.
Kay said MUFON isn’t just looking for proof of extraterrestrials; it’s also looking for people on earth who just vanished, because they’d been abducted by beings from outer space.
Kay said she’s spoken with many people who seem to have disappeared for several hours or days, and they’re unable to explain why.
“Some people even have a theory that it’s a time warp or time travel, that maybe it’s us traveling from the future back in time. But there is something to the abduction experience,” Kay said.
